I need your input!

Some of you may seen the mobile ringtone and wallpaper site I launched last year. Its called "Mobile-ize For Tibet" and its currently located at http://www.sftonline.org/ring. For a donation of $3 to SFT, you can get a cool background image for your phone (such as the one to the left), or a ringtone of Long-sho or Lhabhu Dhabhu.

Now I say "some of you" because the whole problem with the service has been the inability to market it, due both to time and money. I still think it could be very popular, particularly if I improve a few things:

1) New website design to improve usability, general look

2) Add new wallpapers, ringtones, on a regular basis (each month?)

3) Increase marketing through word of mouth, banner ads on phayul, etc., fliers, stickers, etc. especially towards Tibetan youth

4) And most importantly, find a *NEW NAME*. We need a name thats catchy and fun - TibetTones.com? TibetRing? RangzenRingers? YakTone?

Please post your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below. I'm really looking forward to hearing your ideas. This could be a great bit of extra income for SFT!

    Hey Nathan,

I love this idea. We can definitely raise money for SFT through it. I do think a catchy url - like rangzenringers.com (or something like that) would help.

I also liked your idea of selling the ringtones at Tibetan stores so they can access the site through a password and download the ringtones or wallpaper. Also, we need to specifically target Tibetans - maybe blasting out an email written in english and Tibetan to all those Tibet sites might lead to a viral effect. Finally, we should speak some of the Tibetan owners of cell phone shops, maybe they can also help get the message out!

    Great work!!

Yaktones has a great "ring" to it (ha ha) though it's pretty apolitical... rangzenringers is pretty good too. Hey, how abut rangzenmobile.com?

We should send out an announcement to the email Action Network. We should also just get a banner ad up on Phayul.com for 3 months or something to see - I think we can find the resources for that. I may be wrong but I think that we just need to do a little push and then it will go viral... at least in the Tibetan exile community. We should also ask a few people like Thup & Tendor & Kusho la to advise on how to get it out in different ways through Tibetan chats, other Tib sites, etc.
